Top 5 Destinations in Sydney for Fellow Upcyclers

  1. Reverse Garbage in Marrickville is an Upcyclers paradise and my absolute favourite place to go on a weekend for inspiration. You can find just about anything here from Mannequin limbs to fabric remnants and banners, old books, records, tools, leftover paint and art supplies, old pallets, furniture and much, much more. You won’t be disappointed!
  2. The Bower Reuse & Repair Centre is perfect for anyone in the middle of a building or renovation project. Out front you’ll find refurbished furniture and antiques but outback you’ll find leftovers from building sites like sinks, doors, old tiles, whatever you’re looking for you’ll be guaranteed to find it here. They also have a great bike section so if you’re looking for used bike parts this is the place to go.
  3. Ebay is ideal for those looking for furniture to revamp a space. Amazing bargains are just waiting to be found on great timeless pieces of furniture that can be refinished, painted or reupholstered. The best part about this is you end up with a customised piece of furniture unlike any other that is personalised to your space and your character. Far better than any anything you’ll find at Ikea!
  4. Glebe Markets is a hive of excitement every Saturday morning. This market has both new and old and everything in between. Get yourself some pre loved fashion or find yourself lost in the aisles of handicrafts, books and lots, lots more. There are different stands every week so you just never know what you might stumble across.
  5. The Garage Sale Trail happens once a year and is a national day of simultaneous garage sales. This amazing event is about making sustainability fun and diverting & minimising the volume of people’s household goods going to landfill. You can grab yourself all sorts of little treasures at bargain prices on a day like this, just log onto the site closer to October 26th, check out who’s involved in your local area and start plotting your route!
