Upcycling tents into festival fashion

Music festivals can be plenty of fun, but when the festival draws to an end what isn’t fun is the tens of thousands of tents that are abandoned and ultimately make their way to landfills.

Due to their upcycling potential, there is no reason that abandoned, used tents should make their way to the tip. Previously we featured Sheltersuit, a company who upcycle abandoned tents into a jacket/sleeping bag combo for homeless people.

Another company who is on a mission to ensure abandoned tents at the end of festivals get put to good use is WithIntent. A U.K.-based company who are upcycling old tents, from festivals like Glastonbury, into festival fashion.

WithIntent

The creative person behind WithIntent is Kate Benton, who came up with a better alternative ….to turn them into colourful hoodies, ponchos, raincoats, totes and bunting. All items are made 100% from tents collected from music festivals and the great part is, they’re all waterproof and 100% designed made in Britain!

The great work that WithIntent and Sheltersuit are doing should not be an excuse for you to abandon your tent at the end of a festival. “The best way in which we can reduce waste is to tidy up after ourselves and reuse the items we own,” Kate says on her website.
