Lisa Mattock designs and creates intricately sewn textile art works.
The fabrics and embellishments which have been collected are sourced from discontinued textile sample books, which would otherwise be added to landfill.
The silk embellishments are from women's cooperatives in India which salvage the offcuts which are discarded from the sari factories.
Lisa begin's the creative process by deciding on a colour palette and intricately stitch together varying fabric combinations. These layers are cut, restitched and embellished multiple times.
Little is wasted as she embraces the torn edges, selvedges and inconsistencies in the warp and weft of each piece of cloth she's using.
Out of this foraging and stitching comes a unique piece of artwork that is handstitched onto a mount board and framed by a master framer, in a bespoke box frame, to be enjoyed for years to come.
